Early Education & Career Influences

Wesleyan University

Education and career choices paved the way toward continued involvement and support of the environment – coupled with an interest in the plight of emerging market economies.

Compelled to apply his interest in economics and energy to his passion for the environment,

James Sawyer majored in Earth and Environmental Sciences with a minor in Economics at Wesleyan University and subsequently earned his MBA at the Sloan School of Management at MIT.

In between, he spent four years as an Environmental Engineer at Bechtel Inc., the world’s largest global construction firm managing natural resources projects. Working in a number of countries he developed a major interest in the plight of emerging market economies, particularly in South America.

“My passion has always been to help solve the world’s environmental impacts, a shortage of energy and natural resources and to do so in the most economically viable way.”
